Assistive Devices

  • It is our commitment to provide accessible transportation to all customers regardless of physical ability
  • MSL encourages the use of personal assistive devices (e.g. walkers, canes, oxygen tanks) on our vehicles
  • We will ensure that all staff operating vehicles equipped with assistive devices (e.g. a wheelchair lift) are well trained and familiar with said device


  • We will make certain that our staff are able to communicate with people with disabilities in a way that take into account a multitude of barriers
    • Oral communication
    • Written communication
      • All offical MSL signage is visible and readable
      • Our website is accessible and legible
      • Appropriate signage is visible on all wheel-chair designated buses

Support Persons

  • MSL encourages the presence of a support worker or aid to accompany all persons with disabilities on our vehicles

  • At MSL, we recognize that projecting the right attitude is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service. Further, we are aware that attitudinal barriers often marginalize persons with disabilities. As such, it is our promise that all customers are treated with dignity and respect.

  • Staff training will include
    • An overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the customer service standard
    • Our plan to provide accessible customer service
    • Information on how to interact and communicate with persons with disabilities
    • Training on the use of assistive devices
  • Our plan will be included in our policy and procedure manual
